Get ready for an explosion of color, rhythm, and cultural celebration! The Association of Indians of Sun Prairie is proud to announce its much-awaited Shri Krishna Janmasthami 2025, set to take place on Sunday Aug 17th, 2025 at Sun Prairie West Performing Art Center. This vibrant event promises an unforgettable experience for families, friends, and community members of all ages.

Event Outline

Drawing Competition

We invite young artists and Krishna devotees to express their love for Lord Krishna through colors and imagination. It is more than just a contest—it is a joyful tribute to Lord Krishna’s divine life, viewed through the lens of young, imaginative minds. Whether you are a budding artist or a Krishna devotee, this event is a perfect way to celebrate Janmashtami with creativity and devotion.

Dancing Through the Cultures of India

The cultural show will feature a dynamic lineup of dance performances, each reflecting a different facet of India’s artistic heritage. Audiences can look forward to classical forms like Bharatanatyam, Kathak, and Odissi, alongside contemporary and folk styles such as Bollywood, Bhangra, Garba, and Lavani.

Local dance troupes, schools, and independent performers—ranging from children to adults—will take the stage in colorful costumes, delivering choreographies that celebrate festivals, stories, and emotions from across the Indian subcontinent.

Kids' Fashion Show: Culture on the Catwalk

One of the most heartwarming segments of the event will be the kids’ fashion show, where children aged 3 to 12 will strut down the runway dressed in traditional outfits representing different Indian states. This colorful segment celebrates India’s regional diversity while giving young participants a chance to shine.

Expect to see miniature Maharajas, little Manipuri dancers, pint-sized Punjabis, and more—all showcasing the beauty and uniqueness of Indian attire.

Dahi Handi: A Festive Highlight

A centerpiece of the event will be the Dahi Handi celebration, inspired by the playful spirit of Lord Krishna. This traditional ritual involves teams of enthusiastic participants forming human pyramids to reach and break a pot (handi) filled with curd, symbolizing unity, teamwork, and festivity.

Spectators can expect an electric atmosphere as cheers erupt with every climb and attempt. It’s a must-see moment that captures the true joy and excitement of Indian festivals.

Food, Fun, and Festive Vibes

In addition to the stage performances, the Free light Indian lunch with will also be served to all attendees.

There will also be cultural booths, Jhankis, and interactive activities for children, ensuring that the entire family stays entertained throughout the day.

An Invitation to All

Organizers are calling on the community to come out in full force and be part of this grand celebration. “This show isn’t just about performances—it’s about coming together, celebrating our roots, and passing on our traditions to the next generation,” says AISP, event coordinator. “Whether you're performing, volunteering, or simply attending, your presence will make this event truly special.”

Mark your calendars and don’t miss the opportunity to witness the spirit of India brought to life in one unforgettable evening. Entry is Free and all are welcome!
